Chapter Five - She Falls Asleep
The surrounding hospital was bland and smelled funny. It was pristine and bleached white with light blue and pastel yellow colored accents that tried to bring happiness to the room, but really just made it that much colder. There were loud cries coming from every corner and the squeaky screeches of beds being wheeled to and from the large ward. It wasn't a welcoming place, but it had welcomed Eloise through the doors many times before.
"Eloise, would you please listen to the doctor when he comes in?" her mother begged, trying desperately to get her daughter's attention on her and away from the television. Eloise ignored her again, aimlessly flicking through different channels as she tried to decide on a program. The distant sound of sneakers squeaking on the linoleum floor hit her ears and, as it got louder, she inched the volume up ever so slightly. The sound would've been insignificant and small to someone else, but it overwhelmed Eloise's sense
